Ian Macmillan

With a long and distinguished career spanning almost 50 years, there’s not much that Ian Macmillan doesn’t know about the drinks industry. Starting out at the age of 18 in the Glengoyne Distillery as a mash & stillman, Ian carried out his apprenticeship here. After gaining invaluable experience on the production floor he moved on to a production managerial role at DCL and transferred to London where he oversaw the distillation gin. Eager to get back to Scotland to ply his trade, Ian moved back and became the distilleries manager and master distiller for the iconic Deanston, Tobermory and Bunnahabhain Distilleries (pronounced Boona-haban). Ian’s final stint was with Bladnoch distillery overseeing the installation of new production equipment and training their Master Blender before he started out by himself as an independent whisky consultant.

Ian holds many awards to his name but most notably he is a “Master Keeper of the Quaich” – an achievement to services to the whisky industry and one that only a select few people hold.

Ryan Wilson

Ryan Wilson is an experienced Scotland international rugby player with 50 caps to his name. He has been a key member of the Club’s biggest successes over the past 12 years, and has been leading the charge as Captain since 2017. Ryan recently made Warriors history by reaching his 200th cap for the club, and has been commended for his relentless drive to win.

Looking to the future, Ryan has begun expanding his horizons outside of the sport of rugby. Through his blood connection to Scotland through his maternal grandparents, and living here for over a decade, he has developed a keen interest in Scotch Whisky. He has also always kept a watchful eye on emerging tech over the years which led him to establish his own crypto trading group among his network of contacts a couple of years ago.

Ryan is ready to start a new chapter in his life by bringing these two passions together as a founding member of “The Metabar” team. He is excited to build on the principles that fuelled his impressive rugby career, and make this project his biggest success yet.
